Product Identification
• Generic Name: Tylosin Tartrate Tablets
• Strength: 100 mg Tylosin per tablet (as tartrate salt)
• Package: 10 tablets per blister
Composition
Each film-coated tablet contains 100 mg Tylosin (equivalent to tylosin tartrate) as active ingredient. Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, povidone K30, magnesium stearate, film coating premix.
Description
Pink film-coated tablets; white to pale yellow core after removing coating.
Pharmacological Action
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic that binds reversibly to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting peptidyl transferase and blocking bacterial protein synthesis.
• Antibacterial spectrum: Active against Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Corynebacterium), Mycoplasma, Spirochaeta and some Gram-negative cocci. It is the first-line agent for mycoplasmal infections in livestock and poultry.
• Pharmacokinetics: Rapidly absorbed after oral administration; widely distributed in tissues with high concentration in lung, liver and kidney; excreted mainly via bile and feces.
Indications
For treatment of infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria and Mycoplasma in cattle, swine and poultry:
1. Swine enzootic pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, streptococcosis
2. Bovine infectious pleuropneumonia, mastitis, metritis
3. Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) in chickens and turkeys
4. Secondary bacterial infections of viral diseases
Dosage & Administration
Oral administration, calculated as tylosin base.
• Cattle: 10–20 mg per kg body weight, twice daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
• Swine: 5–10 mg per kg body weight, twice daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
• Poultry: 25 mg per kg body weight, twice daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
Adverse Reactions
1. Mild gastrointestinal disturbances: soft stool, anorexia, diarrhea at high doses.
2. Rare hypersensitivity reactions: erythema, pruritus.
3. Intestinal flora imbalance with prolonged high-dose use.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to tylosin or other macrolide antibiotics.
Precautions
1. Contraindicated in laying hens during egg production period.
2. Use with caution in lactating dairy cows and animals with hepatic dysfunction.
3. Do not combine with lincosamides or chloramphenicols due to antagonistic effect.
4. For veterinary use only. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Meat: Cattle 14 days; Swine 14 days; Chicken 1 day
• Milk: 3 days
Storage
Store in tightly sealed blister, protected from light and moisture, below 25°C.
