  • Trichlorfon Solution
    Aquatic Parasiticide Solution
    Product Identification

    • Generic Name: Trichlorfon (Metrifonate) Solution
    • Strength: 50% w/v (500 mg Trichlorfon per mL)
    • Package: 1 L per bottle
    Composition
Each mL contains 500 mg Trichlorfon as active ingredient. Excipients: Non-ionic surfactant, stabilizer, purified water.
    Description
Clear, colorless to pale yellow aqueous solution with characteristic organophosphate odor.
    Pharmacological Action
Trichlorfon is a broad-spectrum organophosphate parasiticide. It irreversibly inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in the nervous system of parasites, causing acetylcholine accumulation, sustained nerve excitation, convulsive paralysis and pathogen death.
    • Parasite spectrum: Highly effective against ectoparasites of freshwater fish, including Dactylogyrus, Gyrodactylus, Lernaea (anchor worm), Sinergasilus, Argulus (fish louse) and leeches. It also has moderate activity against intestinal nematodes.
    Indications
For the treatment and control of ectoparasitic diseases in freshwater farmed fish (carp, grass carp, silver carp, bighead carp, crucian carp, tilapia, etc.), including dactylogyriasis, gyrodactylosis, lernaeosis, sinergasilosis and argulosis.
    Dosage & Administration
For external full-pond splashing only. Calculate pond water volume accurately before application.
    • Routine treatment: 0.2–0.3 mL of solution per cubic meter of water (final concentration 0.1–0.15 mg/L trichlorfon), diluted and evenly splashed across the entire pond.
    • Severe infestation: 0.3–0.5 mL per m³, repeat once after 7 days if necessary.
    • Short-term bath: 1–2 mL per 100 L water, bathe fish for 10–20 minutes with continuous aeration.
    Adverse Reactions
    1. Mild transient stress reaction in fish at therapeutic dose, usually self-resolving.
    2. Overdose may cause cholinergic toxicity: unbalanced swimming, increased mucus secretion, convulsions, respiratory depression and even mortality.
    Contraindications
    1. Hypersensitivity to organophosphate compounds.
    2. Strictly prohibited for shrimp, crayfish, crabs and all crustaceans (extremely high acute toxicity).
    3. Not recommended for scaleless fish (catfish, loach, eel) and sturgeon.
    Precautions
    1. For aquaculture external use only. Not for oral administration.
    2. Never mix with alkaline drugs or apply in alkaline water — trichlorfon decomposes into highly toxic dichlorvos under alkaline conditions.
    3. Do not apply on cloudy days, before rain or in hypoxic water. Maintain continuous aeration during and after treatment.
    4. Accurate water volume calculation is required to avoid overdose.
    5. Operators must wear protective gloves and goggles. Rinse immediately with plenty of water in case of skin/eye contact.
    6. Toxic to silkworms and bees. Do not contaminate mulberry fields and beehives.
    7. Keep out of reach of children.
    Withdrawal Period
    • Edible fish: 7 days before harvest.
    Storage
Store in tightly sealed original container, protected from light, in a cool dry place below 25°C. Keep separate from alkaline substances, feed and food.
