Composition
Each tablet contains 100 mg Tilmicosin as active ingredient. Excipients: Microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, sodium starch glycolate, magnesium stearate, film coating premix.
Description
Light beige film-coated tablets.
Pharmacological Action
Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic macrolide antibiotic derived from tylosin. It reversibly binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibits peptidyl transferase and blocks bacterial protein synthesis, exerting bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects at high concentrations.
• Spectrum: Active against Gram-positive bacteria, Mycoplasma, Actinobacillus, Pasteurella, Haemophilus and some Gram-negative pathogens, with particularly high activity against respiratory pathogens.
• Pharmacokinetics: Rapidly absorbed orally; excellent tissue penetration with extremely high concentration in lung tissue and mammary gland; long elimination half-life; excreted mainly via bile and feces.
Indications
For the treatment of respiratory infections caused by susceptible bacteria and mycoplasma in cattle, swine and poultry:
1. Swine enzootic pneumonia, porcine respiratory disease complex, pleuropneumonia
2. Bovine pasteurellosis, mycoplasmal pneumonia, mastitis
3. Chronic respiratory disease and mycoplasmosis in poultry
Dosage & Administration
For oral administration, calculated as tilmicosin base.
• Cattle: 10–20 mg per kg body weight, once daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
• Swine: 10–15 mg per kg body weight, once daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
• Poultry: 20–30 mg per kg body weight, once daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
Adverse Reactions
1. Mild gastrointestinal irritation: anorexia, soft stool, diarrhea at high doses.
2. Rare hypersensitivity reactions.
3. Intestinal flora imbalance with prolonged use.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to tilmicosin or other macrolide antibiotics.
2. Contraindicated in horses and other equines (fatal toxicity may occur).
3. Prohibited for laying hens during egg production period.
Precautions
1. Use with caution in animals with impaired hepatic function.
2. Do not combine with lincosamides or chloramphenicols due to antagonistic effect.
3. For veterinary use only. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Meat: Cattle 14 days; Swine 14 days; Chicken 10 days
• Milk: 3 days
Storage
Store in tightly sealed blister, protected from light and moisture, below 25°C.
