Phoxim Solution
Aquatic Insecticide Solution
Product Identification
• Generic Name: Phoxim Emulsifiable Solution
• Strength: 20% w/v (200 mg Phoxim per mL)
• Package: 1 L per bottle
Composition
Each mL contains 200 mg Phoxim as active ingredient. Excipients: Non-ionic emulsifier, organic solvent, UV stabilizer.
Description
Pale yellow to brown transparent oily liquid; forms a stable milky white emulsion when diluted with water.
Pharmacological Action
Phoxim is a high-efficacy, low-residue organophosphate insecticide-parasiticide with strong contact and stomach poison action. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase in parasite nervous system, blocks nerve impulse conduction and causes spastic paralysis and death.
• Parasite spectrum: Effective against fish ectoparasites including Lernaea, Sinergasilus, Argulus, Dactylogyrus, leeches, and harmful aquatic insects such as dragonfly nymphs, water beetles and tadpole shrimps in fry ponds.
Indications
For prevention and treatment of ectoparasitic diseases in freshwater fish ponds; also used to eliminate harmful aquatic insects in nursery and fingerling ponds.
Dosage & Administration
Dilute with water and splash evenly over the whole pond.
• Parasite treatment: 0.15–0.3 mL of solution per cubic meter of water (final concentration 0.03–0.06 mg/L phoxim).
• Heavy infestation: 0.3–0.5 mL per m³, repeat after 7 days.
• Application timing: Apply in the late evening, as phoxim decomposes rapidly under sunlight and UV radiation.
Adverse Reactions
1. Mild transient stress in fish at therapeutic dose.
2. Overdose may cause neurotoxic symptoms: uncoordinated swimming, convulsions, respiratory depression.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to organophosphate insecticides.
2. Strictly prohibited for shrimp, crab, crayfish and all crustaceans (extremely high toxicity).
3. Not for use in scaleless fish and sturgeon farming.
Precautions
1. For aquaculture external use only. Do not ingest.
2. Do not mix with alkaline drugs or apply in highly alkaline water.
3. Apply in the evening or on cloudy days to avoid photodegradation.
4. Maintain continuous aeration. Do not use when dissolved oxygen is below 3 mg/L.
5. Accurate water volume calculation is essential to prevent overdose.
6. Atropine sulfate is the specific antidote for accidental poisoning.
7. Toxic to bees and silkworms. Avoid environmental contamination.
8. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Edible fish: 10 days before harvest.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed original container, protected from light and heat, in a cool dry place. Keep away from fire sources.
