Composition
Active ingredient: Methionine Iodine, with available iodine (I) not less than 10.0% (w/w). Excipients: Solid dispersant, stabilizer, non-ionic surfactant.
Description
Light brown to brown powder, soluble in water, with characteristic iodine odor.
Pharmacological Action
Methionine iodine is an organic iodine complex disinfectant. It slowly releases active iodine ions in aqueous solution, which exerts bactericidal effect by halogenating microbial proteins and oxidizing active groups of intracellular enzymes.
• Spectrum: Broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, viruses and bacterial spores.
• Features: The methionine ligand improves iodine stability and sustained-release performance, prolonging bactericidal duration with low tissue irritation.
Indications
1. Routine and terminal disinfection of livestock/poultry houses, barns, feeding equipment, utensils and transport vehicles.
2. Disinfection of drinking water systems for livestock and poultry.
3. Topical disinfection of animal body surface, wounds and surgical sites.
Dosage & Administration
Dilute with clean water and apply by spraying, wiping, soaking or drinking water addition:
1. Routine environmental & equipment disinfection: Dilute 1:1000 (1g powder per 1L water), spray or soak, contact for 30 minutes.
2. Epidemic area disinfection: Dilute 1:500, spray thoroughly at 50–100 mL/m², contact for 60 minutes, once daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
3. Drinking water disinfection: Dilute 1:5000 – 1:10000, add to drinking water continuously or intermittently.
4. Body surface & wound disinfection: Dilute 1:200, wipe or rinse the affected area.
Adverse Reactions
Mild mucous membrane irritation at high concentrations. No obvious adverse reactions at recommended dilution.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to iodine or any product component.
2. Do not apply to animals with large-area deep burns.
Precautions
1. For external use only. Do not administer orally. Keep out of reach of children.
2. Do not mix with alkaline substances, reducing agents, mercury-containing preparations or quaternary ammonium salt disinfectants.
3. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water.
4. Use with caution on silver, copper and aluminum products; may cause slight corrosion.
5. Wear protective gloves and mask during preparation and operation to avoid skin contact and dust inhalation.
6. Diluted solution should be prepared freshly; stock solution must be stored in sealed, light-proof containers.
Storage
Seal tightly, store in a cool, dry and dark place, away from heat and open flame.
