Mebendazole Solution
Aquatic Anthelmintic Solution
Product Identification
• Generic Name: Mebendazole Solution
• Strength: 10% w/v (100 mg Mebendazole per mL)
• Package: 1 L per bottle
Composition
Each mL contains 100 mg Mebendazole as active ingredient. Excipients: Solubilizer, emulsifier, purified water.
Description
Clear pale yellow to light brown solution with a slight characteristic odor.
Pharmacological Action
Mebendazole is a broad-spectrum benzimidazole anthelmintic. It selectively binds to parasite β-tubulin, inhibits microtubule assembly, blocks glucose uptake and energy metabolism, leading to parasite death. It is effective against both adult and larval stages of monogenean flukes and intestinal tapeworms.
• Parasite spectrum: Highly active against gill and skin monogeneans such as Dactylogyrus spp. and Gyrodactylus spp.; also effective against intestinal cestodes in freshwater fish.
Indications
For the treatment of monogenean trematode infections in freshwater farmed fish, including dactylogyriasis and gyrodactylosis; also used for intestinal cestodiasis.
Dosage & Administration
Dilute with clean water and apply by even full-pond splashing.
• Treatment dosage: 0.3–0.5 mL of solution per cubic meter of water (final concentration 0.03–0.05 mg/L mebendazole).
• Severe infection: Repeat administration after 7 days.
• Dilute 1000–2000 times with water before splashing to ensure uniform distribution in the pond.
Adverse Reactions
1. No obvious adverse reactions at recommended dosage.
2. Overdose may cause anorexia, lethargy and gill irritation in sensitive species.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to benzimidazole derivatives.
2. Strictly prohibited for shrimp, crab and other crustaceans.
3. Use with caution in sturgeon, catfish and other high-value special species.
Precautions
1. For aquaculture external use only.
2. Do not combine with other anthelmintic products without professional guidance.
3. Maintain pond aeration during and after medication to prevent hypoxic stress.
4. Do not use in water with pH > 8.5, which may cause precipitation and reduce efficacy.
5. Operators shall wear protective gloves and clothing.
6. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Edible fish: 14 days before harvest.
Storage
Store in tightly closed container, protected from light, in a cool dry place.
