Ivermectin Solution
Endectocide Solution for Ruminants
Product Identification
• Generic Name: Ivermectin Pour-On Solution
• Strength: 0.5% w/v (5 mg Ivermectin B₁ₐ per mL)
• Package: 1 L per bottle
Composition
Each mL contains 5 mg Ivermectin B₁ₐ as active ingredient. Excipients: Isopropyl myristate, propylene glycol, butylated hydroxytoluene, ethanol.
Description
Clear, colorless to pale yellow oily liquid, odorless or with slight characteristic odor.
Pharmacological Action
Ivermectin is a semi-synthetic macrocyclic lactone endectocide with high potency and low toxicity. It selectively binds to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in nerve and muscle cells of nematodes and arthropods, increasing chloride permeability, causing hyperpolarization and flaccid paralysis of parasite muscle, leading to death or expulsion.
• Spectrum: Broad-spectrum activity against adult and larval gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, ocular worms, and ectoparasites including mange mites, sucking lice, ticks, warble fly larvae and horn flies in cattle, sheep and goats.
• Pharmacokinetics: Well absorbed through the skin; sustained systemic blood levels; metabolized in the liver; excreted mainly via feces.
Indications
For the treatment and control of mixed internal nematode and external parasitic infestations in cattle, sheep and goats.
Dosage & Administration
For external pour-on application only. Apply evenly along the dorsal midline from the withers to the base of the tail.
• Cattle: 1 mL per 10 kg body weight (0.5 mg/kg ivermectin), single administration.
• Sheep & Goats: 1 mL per 10 kg body weight, single administration. For severe sarcoptic mange or heavy tick burden, repeat after 21 days.
Adverse Reactions
1. Rare mild local reaction: transient alopecia or dry skin at application site.
2. Transient pruritus flare in heavily infested animals.
3. Overdose may cause neurotoxicity: lethargy, ataxia, mydriasis, salivation.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to ivermectin or other macrocyclic lactones.
2. Not for use in lactating dairy cows producing milk for human consumption.
Precautions
1. For external use only. Do not administer orally or parenterally.
2. Do not apply to wet, damaged or sunburned skin.
3. Avoid human skin and eye contact. Wear disposable gloves during application.
4. Do not treat animals within the withdrawal period before slaughter.
5. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
