Fenchlorphos Solution

Product Identification
• Generic Name: Fenchlorphos Emulsifiable Solution
• Strength: 20% w/v (200 mg Fenchlorphos per mL)

Composition
Each mL contains 200 mg Fenchlorphos (Ronnel) as active ingredient. Excipients: Emulsifier, aromatic solvent, antioxidant stabilizer.
Description
Yellow to amber oily liquid with characteristic aromatic odor; emulsifies readily in water.
Pharmacological Action
Fenchlorphos is an organophosphate insecticide with strong contact and stomach poison action. It inhibits acetylcholinesterase in the arthropod nervous system, causing nerve impulse conduction block and parasite death.
• Spectrum: Highly effective against warble fly larvae (cattle grubs), ticks, sucking lice, biting lice, mange mites and horn flies in cattle and sheep, with long residual activity on the body surface.
Indications
For the treatment and control of warble fly (Hypoderma spp.) infestation, ticks, lice and mange mites in cattle and sheep.
Dosage & Administration
Dilute with water and apply by spraying or back pouring.
• Warble grub control: Dilute to 0.25% fenchlorphos, pour or spray along the backline, 50–100 mL diluted solution per 50 kg body weight, single application.
• Ticks & lice: Dilute to 0.1% solution, spray the whole body thoroughly, repeat after 14 days if necessary.
• Mange: Dilute to 0.15% solution, spray or dip, repeat after 7 days.
Adverse Reactions
1. Occasional mild local skin irritation.
2. Overexposure may cause cholinergic symptoms: salivation, diarrhea, muscle tremors, bradycardia.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to organophosphate insecticides.
2. Not for use in lactating dairy cows producing milk for human consumption.
3. Do not use on calves under 3 months of age.
Precautions
1. For external use only. Avoid oral intake and eye contact.
2. Wear protective gloves, clothing and respirator during operation.
3. Atropine sulfate is the specific antidote for poisoning.
4. Toxic to aquatic organisms and bees; do not contaminate ponds and water sources.
5. Do not combine with other organophosphates, carbamates or cholinesterase inhibitors.
Withdrawal Period
• Meat: Cattle 28 days; Sheep 21 days
• Milk: Prohibited for use in lactating dairy animals.
Storage
Store in tightly closed container, protected from light, in a cool dry place. Keep away from heat and open flame.
