Liquid Disinfectant for Aquaculture
Product Identification
• Generic Name: Complex Iodine Solution for Aquaculture
• Strength: Available iodine (I) 2.0% w/v (20 mg per mL)
• Package: 1 L per bottle
Composition
Each mL contains 20 mg available iodine as active ingredient, compounded with phosphoric acid and non-ionic surfactant. Excipients: Phosphoric acid, polysorbate 80, potassium iodide, purified water.
Description
Deep brown clear liquid with characteristic iodine odor; miscible with water in any ratio.
Pharmacological Action
A high-efficiency broad-spectrum disinfectant. The surfactant carrier improves iodine stability and permeability, and slowly releases active iodine in water, which halogenates microbial proteins and oxidizes active groups of intracellular enzymes, resulting in rapid pathogen death.
• Spectrum: Highly effective against bacteria, fungi, viruses, bacterial spores and some protozoa. Kills common aquatic pathogens including Aeromonas, Vibrio, Pseudomonas, hemorrhagic virus and Saprolegnia.
Indications
For water body and fish body disinfection in freshwater and marine aquaculture. Used for prevention and control of bacterial, viral and fungal diseases in fish, shrimp, crabs and shellfish, such as gill rot, enteritis, red skin disease, bacterial septicemia, saprolegniasis and white spot syndrome.
Dosage & Administration
1. Full-pond splashing:
৹ Routine disinfection: 0.3–0.5 mL per cubic meter of water, diluted and evenly splashed, once every 7–10 days.
৹ Disease treatment: 0.5–0.8 mL per cubic meter of water, once every 2–3 days for 2–3 consecutive treatments.
2. Fish & fry dip disinfection:
৹ Dilute to 10–15 mg/L available iodine, dip for 10–15 minutes with aeration.
3. Tool & pond disinfection: Dilute 1:200, wipe or soak for 20 minutes.
Adverse Reactions
No obvious adverse reactions at recommended dosage. High concentration may cause gill irritation and stress in fry and sensitive species.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to iodine or any excipient.
2. Do not combine with alkaline substances, reducing agents, tannins and quaternary ammonium salt disinfectants.
Precautions
1. For external aquaculture use only. Do not administer orally.
2. Calculate water volume accurately to avoid overdose. Use with caution in fry and juvenile shrimp/crabs.
3. Apply in the morning on sunny days; maintain aeration after application.
4. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Rinse immediately with plenty of water in case of accidental contact.
5. Store away from metal containers to prevent corrosion.
6. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage
Store in tightly sealed, light-resistant original container, in a cool dry place below 25°C. Keep away from heat and open flame.
