Product Identification
• Generic Name: Cefixime Chewable Tablets
• Strength: 100 mg Cefixime per tablet
• Package: 10 tablets per blister
Composition
Each chewable tablet contains 100 mg Cefixime (as trihydrate) as active ingredient. Excipients: Mannitol, microcrystalline cellulose, crospovidone, aspartame, strawberry flavor, magnesium stearate.

Light blue chewable tablets, fruity flavor.
Pharmacological Action
Cefixime is a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic. It exerts bactericidal effect by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). It is stable against most β-lactamases.
• Spectrum: Highly active against Gram-negative bacteria including E. coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Proteus, Haemophilus, Salmonella, and moderate activity against Gram-positive bacteria such as Streptococcus and methicillin-sensitive Staphylococcus.
• Pharmacokinetics: Well absorbed orally; widely distributed in tissues and body fluids; long elimination half-life; primarily excreted unchanged via kidneys.
Indications
For the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections in dogs, cats and young livestock:
1. Respiratory tract infections: bronchitis, pneumonia, tonsillitis, rhinitis
2. Urinary tract infections: cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis
3. Skin and soft tissue infections: abscess, cellulitis, wound infection
4. Gastrointestinal and biliary tract infections
Dosage & Administration
For oral administration, may be chewed directly or crumbled into food.
• Dogs & Cats: 5–10 mg cefixime per kg body weight, once daily for 3–7 consecutive days. For severe infections, dose may be increased to 15 mg/kg once daily.
• Young livestock: 10–15 mg per kg body weight, once daily for 3–5 consecutive days.
Adverse Reactions
1. Mild gastrointestinal reactions: soft stool, diarrhea, anorexia, occasional vomiting.
2. Rare hypersensitivity reactions: skin rash, pruritus.
3. Prolonged use may cause intestinal flora imbalance and fungal superinfection.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics.
2. Animals with severe renal insufficiency require dose adjustment.
Precautions
1. Use with caution in pregnant and lactating animals under veterinary supervision.
2. Prolonged use should be avoided to prevent emergence of resistant bacteria.
3. For veterinary use only. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Meat: 14 days for livestock
• Milk: 3 days for dairy animals
Storage
Store in sealed blister, in a cool dry place, protected from light and moisture.
