Product Identification
• Generic Name: Avermectin Tablets
• Strength: 5 mg Avermectin per tablet
• Package: 10 tablets per blister
Composition
Each tablet contains 5 mg Avermectin B1 as active ingredient. Excipients: Starch, lactose, sodium lauryl sulfate, magnesium stearate.
Description
Dark green film-coated tablets.
Pharmacological Action
Avermectin is a natural macrocyclic lactone endectocide. It potentiates glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in nerve and muscle cells of nematodes and arthropods, increasing chloride ion influx, causing hyperpolarization and flaccid paralysis, leading to parasite death.
• Spectrum: Effective against gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms and ectoparasites (mites, lice, ticks, maggots) in livestock.
• Pharmacokinetics: Well absorbed orally; widely distributed in adipose tissue; metabolized in liver; excreted mainly via feces.
Indications
For treatment and control of internal nematode infections and external parasitic infestations in cattle, sheep, goats and swine.
Dosage & Administration
Oral administration.
• Cattle: 0.2 mg avermectin per kg body weight, single administration.
• Sheep & Goats: 0.2 mg per kg body weight, single administration.
• Swine: 0.3 mg per kg body weight, single administration. Repeat after 7–10 days for severe mange infestation.
Adverse Reactions
1. Transient pruritus exacerbation in mange-infested animals.
2. Ataxia, mydriasis or lethargy in case of overdose.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to avermectin or macrocyclic lactones.
Precautions
1. Strictly follow recommended dosage; overdose may cause neurotoxicity.
2. Use with caution in young, weak or pregnant animals.
3. Not for use in lactating dairy cows producing milk for human consumption.
4. For veterinary use only. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Meat: Cattle 35 days; Sheep/Goats 28 days; Swine 28 days
• Milk: Not for use in lactating dairy animals.
Storage
Store in sealed blister, in a cool dry place, protected from light.
