Composition
Each mL contains 125 mg Amitraz as active ingredient. Excipients: Emulsifier, xylene, stabilizer.
Description
Light yellow to brown clear oily liquid with characteristic amine odor; forms milky white emulsion when diluted with water.
Pharmacological Action
Amitraz is a formamidine acaricide and insecticide with contact, stomach and fumigant action. It inhibits monoamine oxidase and acts on α-adrenergic receptors in the nervous system of ticks and mites, causing excessive excitation, convulsion and paralysis. It also inhibits oviposition and egg hatching.
• Spectrum: Highly effective against all stages of ticks (adult, nymph, larva), mange mites, demodex and lice in cattle, sheep and goats, with 6–8 weeks residual efficacy against ticks.
Indications
For the treatment and control of tick infestation, sarcoptic mange, psoroptic mange and lice infestation in cattle, sheep and goats.
Dosage & Administration
Dilute with warm water (30–35°C recommended) immediately before use; apply by spraying, dipping or smearing.
• Tick control: Dilute to 0.025%–0.05% amitraz (1:250 – 1:500 dilution), spray or dip the whole body.
• Mange treatment: Dilute to 0.05% solution, thoroughly wet the affected area and surrounding skin, repeat after 7–10 days.
• Lice control: Dilute to 0.025% solution, whole body spray.
Adverse Reactions
1. Transient skin irritation in rare cases.
2. Overdose or excessive absorption may cause sedation, bradycardia, mydriasis and abdominal distension.
Contraindications
1. Hypersensitivity to amitraz or formamidine compounds.
2. Contraindicated in horses (high sensitivity).
3. Do not use on severely debilitated animals.
Precautions
1. For external use only. Avoid oral ingestion and eye contact.
2. Operators must wear protective clothing, gloves and goggles. Do not smoke or eat during operation.
3. Toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate water sources.
4. Do not mix with alkaline solutions or other pesticides.
5. α₂-Adrenergic antagonists may be used for severe poisoning under veterinary guidance.
6. Keep out of reach of children.
Withdrawal Period
• Meat: Cattle & Sheep 21 days
• Milk: 2 days
Storage
Store in tightly closed original container, protected from light and heat, in a cool dry place.
